Our researchers - Dr Christopher Duncan
I am a clinician scientist and honorary consultant in Infectious Diseases in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. My research focuses on viral immunology and host determinants of severe viral disease, with a particular interest in the interferon system, and we have discovered several novel monogenic disorders of interferon regulation in patients. I maintain a clinical research interest in viral vaccines having previously delivered first in human clinical trials of novel adenovirus vectors. My clinical role involves management of High Consequence Infectious Diseases in one of only two HCID treatment centres in the UK, and I also do shared clinics in Immunology. I am co-convenor of the COVID-19 Therapeutics Advisory Group for Immunomodulators.
