University profile

Contributing to research themes:

Professor Harris has been researching complement for more than 30 years and has a keen interest in structure-function relationships in complement activators and regulators with a particular focus in the mechanisms underlying complement dysregulation and disease. She spent a number of years in the Pharmaceutical industry in complement drug discovery before returning to academia in 2016.

She is currently based at Newcastle University and the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre (NRCTC, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle). Research into disease mechanisms remains a focus, together with complement therapeutics (target validation, indication validation, drug discovery) and complement biomarkers (diagnosis, stratification).
