Contributing to research themes:

Ellie Barnes trained in hepatology at London and Oxford, and then as an Senior MRC clinical fellow.  Her lab has focused on the immune control to viral infections (HCV and HEV) and she has led a series of phase I studies developing vaccines to tackle viral hepatitis.  HCV viral diversity represents a key challenge in HCV vaccine development and many of the issues can be readily applied for the assessment of  T cell cross-reactivity in COVID-19.
Ellie is led the UK wide MRC funded consortium STOP-HCV developing stratified medicine to optimise patient clinical outcomes facilitating the integration of immune, viral a host genomic datasets.
